    Crew call for Riftworld
I am posting this on behalf of the organisers of Riftworld (a sci-fi / horror system), who find themselves short of crew for the next event. If anyone is interested, the event is near Nottingham, next weekend (25th).

They plan to wrap up some plot lines next event, and therefore I think they have something big planned.

If anyone is interested, contact email is bufflow_uk@yahoo.co.uk. More details are also available at forums.rule7.co.uk

    Cheers
    Sarah

The future of Waypoint: an announcement
Waypoint LRP would like to announce some changes.

Firstly, there will be no new campaign arc for the Waypoint sci-fi system. However, there will be one off events set in the Waypoint universe (or a version of it with simplified character generation and rules).

Secondly, there will also be one off events set in an alternative history world which we have christened 'The World of Gloriana' (working title, if anyone comes up with a better name, there may be a prize). These events will be lowish fantasy. The game world is the one we used for the one off Pirates game we ran a few years back.

Thirdly, I am becoming a full member of the organisation team, and will be head ref for Gloriana events. David remains head ref for Waypoint, although I will be gradually taking over more reffing as I become more familiar with the nitty gritty of the system.

The reason for all of this is that organising a campaign arc is stressful and time consuming, whereas one off events allows us a bit more freedom and flexibility.

The next event is likely to be a Gloriana event, some time in the summer of 2010. We expect it to be fully catered.

    Swim training...
Training for the Great North Swim is coming along. The current big impediment is the difficulty finding places to swim in open water in the Midlands without joining a triathlon group... So far the best option is in Worcester! Unfortunately open water swimming has been nanny stated to bits.

Sponsorship gathering proceeds well; today I wandered round the department at work with a form. This worked well :-) I have other departments to harrass too.

If anyone feels like sponsoring me, my online sponsorship is at www.justgiving.com/sarahlascelles

    Crazy swimming woman!
Training for Great North Swim )

I'm swimming on behalf of Diabetes UK, because as you all know David is Type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent). Fewer of you may know about my family history of Type 2 (grandfather and father, both brought under control quite quickly with diet). So Diabetes UK feels relevant somehow.

If anyone feels kind enough to sponsor me, I have an online page at

It says a lot about the previous state of our driveway that it actually looks better as stripped bare earth. Later today it will be nice and shiny slabs :-)

I havent actually seen my exam results yet, but my training provider has and called me to tell me I'd got a distinction! 73% in one paper (service support) and 76% in the other (service delivery). I am officially qualified to witter ITIL at people (but I wont, unless they want me to and are preferably paying me to).

    Feeling proud of myself :-)

In other news, I saw a full rainbow on my way home, as in a full semi-circle. The road in front of me was straight, and towards the end the trees looked as though they were behind the rainbow, which was a rather cool effect. Sadly, the effect passed as I neared the trees, and there was no pot of gold.

    Meat!
We have a freezer full of nice ethical meat, courtesy of the Real Meat Company. The only real question is what to eat first! I bought some rabbit to find out what its like, but I dont know how to cook it - do the lazy web have any suggestions?

Effing typical! I spend two days with a sore throat and cough but not actually feeling ill, then on SATURDAY I start to feel like death warmed up. Not fair!

    Artificer...
...was very cool, and tiring. On the one hand sleeping off site allows for a better night's sleep, a proper shower in a clean bathroom with no mud, cooking breakfast with proper cooking facilities, and in this case the opportunity to also see the lovely Christine. On the other hand, you miss out on the late night drinking and OC chatting... So I am undecided on sleeping off site. Plot wise I managed to avoid it on Friday night, but it smacked me in the face on Saturday. I'm also glad we had the chance to go and see Ninfa and meet Cassandra, who is very sweet.

All in all a cool weekend, and everyone's new dresses were lovely. And now I have Eddie back from doggy gaol as well!
